This large house on the edge of the village of Ballantrae is set back from the quiet Ballantrae to Colmonell road and overlooking the River Stinchar. The reception rooms are all very spacious and there is a deep sunny veranda with a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside, the river and the sea. Recently modernised, the house is beautifully decorated and is furnished and equipped to a high standard.
Windyknowe sits in a large garden on a bank above the quiet lane which winds alongside the River Stinchar. It is about half a mile from the village of Ballantrae, so it is only a short walk to the local pub and the shops. There are pretty walks along the lanes or take the path down to the river side where there are some great places to have a picnic.
The sitting room is large, sunny and south facing with a bay window and door which opens onto the veranda. It has an open fireplace (logs provided), comfortable chairs, antique furniture, wonderful pictures as well as books, games, a television and DVD player.
On the ground floor of the house is a large kitchen with painted units. A dining table in the bay window overlooking the river seats up to ten people. There is a four oven Aga, fridge/freezer, gas hob, microwave, and a dishwasher, as well as plenty of equipment for keen cooks.
The study has a desk and sofa, which converts into a double bed. A utility room contains the automatic washing machine, a tumble drier, an airing cupboard, a store/coat cupboard and a large chest freezer. A telephone is provided as is a cot and high chair if needed. On the ground floor there is a bright double bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
Upstairs are two twin bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms. Off one of the bedrooms is a small single bedroom. Thoughtfully decorated, they have spectacular views of the River Stinchar and the hills beyond.
The lovely secluded garden is well maintained and contains many mature shrubs and trees. There are lawns front and back, and a vegetable plot to one side. A gardener comes once a week to tend the garden. There is a private drive with ample parking space for 2/3 cars. The gates can be closed, if necessary, to keep children and pets securely inside the garden, and there is a large garage and a rod and tackle room for the keen fishermen.
